This calculator uses MET values (Metabolic Equivalents of Task). Each activity has a MET value that represents how many times more energy it requires compared to sitting still. The formula is: calories = MET × weight in kg × time in hours.
Heavier bodies expend more energy to move and perform the same tasks. A 100 kg person burns roughly twice as many calories as a 50 kg person during the same activity for the same duration.
